Abstract

Virus outbreaks are major threats to the business data. The Symantec ThreatCon rating is a measurement of the global threat exposure, delivered as part of Symantec DeepSight Threat Management System. To protect the data, administrators need to keep a watch and take appropriate backup to take care of any disaster. Data Protection Applications can use Symantec ThreatCon ratings to auto schedule different protection methods to have cost effective methods to achieve better RPO & RTO while recovering from any disaster due to virus outbreaks.

Virus outbreaks are major threats to the business data. To protect the data, administrators need to keep a watch and take appropriate backup to take care of any disaster.

Previous Efforts:

We found an existing solution to enable backup when ThreatCon level is at lowest level to have clean protection copy, but we have not seen auto scheduling.

New Solution:

The Symantec ThreatCon rating is a measurement of the global threat exposure, delivered as part of Symantec DeepSight Threat Management System.  Data Protection Applications will keep polling the Symantec ThreatCon ratings and can be effectively used to auto sched...
