Abstract

A method and system is disclosed for presenting advertisements based on emoticons used by a user. 

Description

Disclosed is a method and system for presenting online Advertisements (Ads) based on emoticons used by a user.  The emoticons used by the user indicate current emotion, feeling and moods of the user.  Therefore, ads related to user’s current emotion, feeling and mood may be more relevant to the user and therefore may perform better in terms of receiving appropriate attention from the user.  In order to present the ads, the emotions, feeling and mood of the user are tracked by analyzing the emoticons used by the user.  The analysis of the emoticons is performed for a predefined time period.

The emoticons used by the user may be analyzed based on various factors.  The various factors may include, but are not limited to, frequency of usage of an emoticon and weights assigned to the emoticons by the user.   

Accordingly, the frequency of usage of an emoticon is determined and ads may be presented based on frequently used emoticon.  For example, if a user is using a love emoticon frequently, ads for gift shops, florists, and restaurants are displayed to the user.

Further, the method and system also determines weights assigned by the user to emoticons for displaying ads.  Accordingly, a set of emoticons recently used by the user is analyzed and are prioritized based on t...
