Method and System for User Customized Payment of Bills

Disclosed is a method and system for enabling users to split a bill for products/services that are used or consumed by the users as a group. Accordingly, the method and system enables the users to more easily pay their share of the bill.

In accordance with the method and system disclosed herein, when a group of users

jointly purchase products/services offered by a merchant, each user of the group of

users is provided with a customized copy of a bill pertaining to the products/services or portion thereof that applies to that user. The bill includes itemized details such as an item code, a discount and a price for each product/service applicable to each user. In an embodiment, a copy of the bill is transmitted to mobile devices belonging to the users. A mobile device may be, but is not limited to, a mobile phone, a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA), or a laptop computer. In order to receive the copy of the bill on a mobile device, a user of the mobile device may be required to register the mobile device with the merchant. Accordingly, the merchant will transfer the copy of the bill to the mobile devices of the users.

Subsequent to receiving the copy of the bill, the users may verify the accuracy of the bill. Further, the users are provided with an option to split the bill using their mobile devices. In order to split the bill, the users are enabled to select products/services for which they wish to contribute.
