The disclosure relates generally to person-support apparatuses. More specifically, but not exclusively, the disclosure relates to standard parts that can be rearranged to build person-support apparatus.
Person-support apparatuses such as beds used in hospitals, stretcher, and bariatric beds can be built by conventional manufacturing techniques. For example, separate parts of a hospital bed can be joined/ assembled together by welding to obtain a complete unit of desired dimensions. Further, to manufacture a person support apparatus different from a hospital bed, for example a stretcher, different parts can be joined/ assembled together to obtain the desired unit. Various methods and arrangements have been developed to manufacture a single unit that can be re- arranged to conform to different person-support apparatuses . However, there is still room for improvement. Thus, a need persists for further contributions in this area of technology
The disclosure provides a method for building different person-support apparatuses from multiple standard parts. The multiple standard parts can be rearranged according to dimension requirements of a particular person-support apparatus. Different person-support apparatus can be of different dimensions but can be made of similar materials. Thus, standard parts can be manufactured that can have predetermined dimensions. The predetermined dimensions can be such that one or more set of standard parts can be arranged together to build a person-support apparatus. Further, the one or more set of standard parts can be re-arranged to build another person-support apparatus. Furthermore, a set of standard parts can be added to or removed from the one or more set of standard parts and can be arranged together to build a third person-support apparatus.
Person-support apparatuses can include a hospital bed, a stretcher, and a bariatric bed. The person-support apparatuses can be of specific dimension depending upon the use of the person-support apparatus. The specific dimensions of the person-
support apparatus can be obtained by using multiple standard parts. The design and use of the multiple standard parts are subsequently explained in detail.
The multiple standard parts 100 according to the disclosure are represented in Fig. 1. The multiple standard parts 100 can be made of a suitable material such as carbon fiber, wood, plastic, steel etc. It should be appreciated that the multiple standard parts 100 can be at least one of a longitudinally extending beam, a C-shaped beam, a solid beam, a hollow beam and tube. Further, the multiple standard parts can include a set of first standard part 102, a set of second standard part 104, and a set of third standard part 106.
