Method and System for Translating Content Based On Proficiency of a User

Disclosed is a method and system for translating content based on proficiency of a user with respect to a particular language.

The method involves allowing the user to specify proficiency of a particular language when the user accesses a web page. The user may set the proficiency level through the web browser preference settings. The proficiency level is mapped to the number of words in a translation database and a percentage of words to be translated is determined. The percentage is determined based on the total number of terms in the translation database. On setting the proficiency level, the web browser may translate a percentage of the content on the web page based on the specified proficiency level.
