Abstract

A method and system for dynamically integrating an advertisement and its related updates obtained from a user’s social network is disclosed. Whenever the advertisement of a brand or a product is displayed to the user on a webpage, updates (i.e. information, feedbacks, views, comments, opinions, remarks, commentary or tweets) pertaining to the brand or the product are dynamically fetched from other users belonging to the user’s social network. Abstract

A method and system for dynamically integrating an advertisement and its related updates obtained from a user’s social network is disclosed.  Whenever the advertisement of a brand or a product is displayed to the user on a webpage, updates (i.e. information, feedbacks, views, comments, opinions, remarks, commentary or tweets) pertaining to the brand or the product are dynamically fetched from other users belonging to the user’s social network.  Thereafter, the updates are displayed on the fly on or alongside the advertisement in a visually distinct manner on the webpage.

Description

Disclosed is a method and system for dynamically integrating an advertisement and its related updates obtained from a user’s social network. 

When the user visits a webpage, the advertisement of a brand or a product may be displayed to the user.  For displaying the advertisement, the system may initially determine the identity of the user.  Based on the identity of the user, the system may dynamically choose the advertisement to be displayed to the user on the webpage.  In response, the system then queries one or more of the user’s social networks for dynamically fetching one or more updates about the brand or the product of the advertisement.  One or more of the user’s social networks include, Facebook*, Twitter** among others.  The system may use the brand or product name as a string for searching the user’s social networks.  For example, the system may use a name of a movie such as, “Toy Story 3” as a string for searching the user’s social networks for dynamically fetching updates pertaining to the movie named “Toy Story 3”.  The updates may include information, feedbacks, views, comments, opinions, remarks, commentary or tweets pertaining to the brand or the product of the advertisement.  In addition, one or more of these updates are posted by other users belonging to the user’s social network.

In response to dynamically fetching the updates pertaining to the brand or the product of the advertisement, the system then analyzes the updates and classifies each update as a positive, a negative or a neutral update.  Thereafter, the system selects a number of most important updates from the positive, negative or...
