Abstract of the Invention:

Rotary steerable system (RSS) with eccentric stabilizer achieves tool face control via an orienter.

Version A (without motor). The tool face/offset at the bit (1) is created by an eccentric stabilizer (3) that is attached to a drive sub (2)in a way that it can rotate in relation to the drive sub. The rotating eccentric stabilizer is oriented and/ or maintained stationary in relation to the bore hole via an orienter (4) while rotating the drill string. This allows to control tool face or orient tool face while rotating the drill string. All parts are rotating in relation to the bore hole except the eccentric stabilizer. Version B - with motor. The tool face/offset at the bit (1) is created through an eccentric stabilizer (3) attached to the housing of a straight motor (2). The eccentric stabilizer can be fixed in relation to the motro housing or it can be attached in a way that it can rotate in relation to the motor housing. An orienter (4) control the tool face while the string is rotated from surface. This is achieved by changing the orientation of the eccentric stabilizer in relation to the bore hole or by keeping it stationary in relation the bore hole while orating the drill string.
