Method and System for Rating Articles by Associating Weights

Disclosed is a method and system for providing ratings for an article on internet/intranet by associating weights with actual ratings which are provided by users. The method and system involves utilizing tags associated with a user and tags of an article for identifying relevance of a rating which has been provided by the user for the article.

The method involves receiving rating from a user for an article available on intranet/internet. Thereafter, tags of the article are matched with tags associated with the user. The tags associated with the user may correspond to name or profile of the user. Based on a frequency of tags of the article which are matching with the tags associated with the user, a weight for the rating provided by the user is calculated. A value of the weight is then multiplied with the rating. For example, consider a user who has many items on the intranet which are tagged by a tag word "JAVA". Now when the user provides a rating for a Java based article, as high number of tags of the article match with the tags associated with the user, a high value weight is multiplied with the rating.

A flowchart illustrating the above method is shown in Fig. 1.

Further, a block diagram illustrating an example of the above method is shown in Fig. 2.
