Disclosed is a method and a device for Recording and play back of a path traversed between two location by means of walking, or a combination of walking and using assisted travel means namely Escalators, Automated walkways (Travelators), and Elevators. The said Device consists of a Base Unit (comprising of an Accelerometer, A Pedometer, A compass, Blue Tooth Receiver

/Transmitter and a Central Processing Unit), a Mobile

Application, and a Blue tooth enabled Compatible Mobile

The said Device would record a path traversed between two locations and would come up with a map to assist the Person to guide back to the starting location using the said device. The said path could be traversed either by walking, or using Escalator, or using Elevator, or using Automated Walkways, or by any possible combination of above.

DEVICE:

Components of the said device are stated below:
Pedometer (PM): Would capture the footsteps taken by the user and hence the distance travelled while walking
Multi Axis Accelerometer (AM): Would indicate the acceleration experienced by the Base Unit, and would also indicate to the Central Processing Unit, if the Acceleration is Horizontal,

Vertical, or Angular acceleration.The Orientation sensing feature in an Accelerometer is pretty common and is present in devices like Laptop, Digital camera, etc
Compass (CM): Shall Measure the direction of the base unit at each step, and while acceleration, at each second. CM shall measure the direction from North position, Clock wise, with a range from 0 to 360 Degrees; O being north, 90 being East, 180 being South, 270 being West, and 360 being North again. As a Compass gives only the North direction, there would be a sensor placed at the front direction of the Compass

                                                  Base Unit (which would be the one which the user is facing), and other one at the tip of the magnetic needle. The Deviation that the needle takes with respect to the above said sensor would be the final reading of the compass. The CM components are drawn below

Central Processing Unit(CPU): Would take continuous readings from all the three above mentioned components and would analyze and record the path traversed, direction of the path, and turns taken, angle

/direction of the turn, assisted travel means used and identify

the travel means (Escalator, elevator, and Travelator). On completing the path traversed,
as indicated by the user from the Mobile, CPU shall create a map from the current location to the starting location, and via Blue tooth protocol, shall transmit the map to the Blue tooth enabled mobile Hand Set.

Blue Tooth Receiver/Transmitter: It would enable the Base device to communicate with the Mobile Handset
Mobile application (MP): It would provide a blue tooth enabled handset with an ability to communicate with the Base Unit via the Blue too...
