Abstract

A method is provided for targeting ads on a mobile device based on device profile of the mobile device.  The device profile includes capability, limitation, configuration, and usage pattern of the mobile device.

Description

The method disclosed herein, focuses on targeting ads that are visually rendered optimal based on capability, limitation, configuration, and usage pattern of a mobile device.

The method involves determining device profile for different mobile devices.  The device profile captures the device features and the usage pattern of the mobile device.  The device profile is computed by taking into account capability, limitation, and configuration of the mobile device.  For example, the device features includes model/make of the mobile device, screen size, screen type (i.e., touch-sense/normal screen), screen resolution, radio capability, camera, video capability, calling, Wi-Fi capability, GPS support, 3G support, memory size, applications, etc.  Additionally, the method tracks usage pattern of features in the mobile device by a user.  For example, the device features include voice call usage, Internet usage, SMS usage, Wi-Fi usage, Camera usage, Radio usage, usage of different Applications, Video calling usage, etc.

Thereafter, an ad store maintained at an ad server matches the device profile with an appropriate ad and delivers the ad to the mobile device.  Consider the following exemplary scenarios where the ads are delivered to mobile devices based on the device profile:
