Abstract

The idea object of this Application refers to a fixture whose aim is to break internal slag in long control/injection lines. Although the lines are normally flushed to a high level of cleanliness (typically NAS-6), there have been cases where debris detaching from the internal diameter of the line have accumulated and impaired ability of pressure-actuated Tools to work properly. The common thesis behind these failures is related to the fact that, although the lines are flushed and cleaned after spooling on drums, deformation caused by crossing short-radius Sheaves as typically happens during offshore installations, generates the detachment of debris that subsequently fall and accumulate on downhole tools. The idea is then to force the Control Line to pass a short-radius Sheave (therefore simulating what happens Offshore) in order to deform it enough to break the slag that adhere to Line's walls, thus allowing a more effective subsequent flushing and cleaning to NAS-6 levels.
