Abstract

The present invention relates to a double griddle system for a multiple burner cook top. In the double griddle system, multiple burners may be used as the griddle heating source. The double griddle system is configured to be either a continuous griddle or a multiple griddle. Such a double griddle system does not restrict the number of burners used and improves even heating over an expanded cooking surface.

DOUBLE GRIDDLE SYSTEM USING MULTIPLE BURNERS

BACKGROUND

The present invention relates generally to griddles, and more particularly to a griddle for a multiple burner cook top.

A griddle is a type of cooking surface that is commonly used in homes and restaurants. Griddles used on domestic cook tops are commonly made of steel, aluminum or cast iron and are available in varied shape. Generally, traditional removable griddle designs are integrated over one or two burners to promote even heating distributions. However, the use of a griddle over only one or two burners forces the griddle's cooking surface to be made smaller than desired. Larger style griddles are typically constrained to permanent griddle designs where u-tube or other geometrically shaped burners may be used effectively to provide more even heating.

It is desirable to have a removable griddle that allows for even heating over a wide area of a cook top.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

Figure 1 is an exemplary embodiment of a multiple griddle system in accordance with the present invention.

Figure 2 is an exemplary embodiment of a continuous griddle system in accordance with the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

A removable double griddle design on a cooking product is disclosed. The griddle is mounted on top of a cook top to obtain an appropriate height for heating capacity, combustion and heat management.

The double griddle design spans a space over at least three multiple burners to promote even heating over an expanded cooking surface. In one embodiment, the griddle design is one continuous surface. In an alternate embodiment, the griddle design is a combination of multiple griddles.

The multiple burners may include a bridge burner on one side and a traditional oval burner on the other side. Alternatively, the multiple burners may include two individual round burners on one side and a traditional oval burner on the other side. Integration of the griddle with a second set of burners in the middle of a cook top promotes a more even heat distribution on a very large griddle design.
