Method And System For Computing Carbon Footprint Index Based On Unstructured Text Analytics

Disclosed is a method and system for computing Carbon Footprint Index (CFI) for an entity based on unstructured text analytics.

The system includes a content analyzer that employs Unstructured Information Management Architecture or any similar architecture used for analyzing unstructured text. Fig. 1 illustrates an exemplary system architecture of the content analyzer according to the disclosed method and system.

The content analyzer may perform two statistical analysis functions i.e., index reading function and mining function as illustrated in Fig. 2. The content analyzer may implement the mining function using, for example, a MINER API.

The content analyzer may be configured with rules to analyze the unstructured text and recognize one or more green concepts in the unstructured text. In response to recognizing the green concepts, the content analyzer may assign carbon footprint values to each concept. The carbon footprint values may be assigned to the green concepts based on carbon footprint research associated with the green concepts. The carbon footprint values may be assigned weights based on, for example, but not limited to, certainty of pattern matching and relation with real carbon increase. Thereafter,

weighted averages of the carbon footprint values may be determined to compute CFI

for an entity associated with the unstructured text.

In an exemplary embodiment of the disclosure, the unstructured text, as illustrated in the text below, may be input to the content analyzer.
