Abstract

The (e)STOP system is a remote electronic shutdown system. This system is intended to be a failsafe shutdown system that can be activated from up to one thousand feet away. Other systems are generally reliant on a computer signal from an operator to shut down the system and thus the proximity of the operator to the system to be shut-down may present a higher risk. The remote signal is an encrypted frequency hopping signal so that interference events or accidental shutdowns are greatly reduced. Approximately 65 pounds of force are required to activate the remote shut-down button. The remote transmitter (see figure below) is on a “D-Ring” with a lanyard and holster to enhance personal portability.

Optional Control

External antenna connection allows range up to 2,000 feet with FHSS radio option. Available with BASE Engineering's proprietary SafeLink signal where handheld and machine continuously communicate to ensure signal validity and strength. Any loss of signal results in all active functions automatically shutting down and failing safe. Common applications include Ready-Mix Truck, Concrete Pump, and Volumetric Mixer machines or any other application where maintained operator control and job site mobility is critical.
 

FHSR-H model incorporates a secure frequency-hopping, spread-spectrum radio link that greatly reduces outside electrical or RF interference. Battery life between charging is approximately 30 hours of continuous use.

ASKR-H model utilizes fixed-frequency radios with up to 30 hours of continuous use between recharging (charger supplied). Optional 'Enable' button requires two deliberate steps before operator to machine signal is activated (Enable and specific command signal).

Interface to OEM electronic controls can be simplified with factory installed, direct-plug connectors (shown) or through J1939 serial communication (other protocols available).
