Abstract

A downhole screen filters particles outside a screen jacket. The filtered flow is then restricted at each screen joint which helps equalize zone depletion along long production zones. This restriction is achieved by forcing flow through more or less paths and orifices. Once flow passes through the ICD restriction it enters the basepipe and is produced. The inflow control device is manufactured and assembled in the lowest of restriction settings and adjusted higher depending on well requirements. The ICD can be increased or decreased as necessary until deployed. The novel feature here is the Adjustable ICD requiring only the removal of setscrews and the adjustment of a housing member.
