Abstract

Rural India represents material opportunity for vendors/merchants to sell their products because of increasing prosperity. According to a McKinsey study rural India will have a market worth US$ 500-600 billion by 2020. Rural population needs several products catered to them but merchants find it difficult to reach them due to high cost of distribution. In this invention, we present an R-Commerce platform for enabling commerce in a rural setup, while handling (i) Illiteracy among villagers, (ii) Difficulty of physical access, and (iii) Lack of connectivity. The platform enables various vendors (both small and big) to reach out to the rural population to sell their products in a cost-effective manner.
