Disclosed is a method and system for automatically instructing an Information Management System (IMS) Connect middleware application instance to resolve duplicate client IDs

Generally, the Cancel Timer function is used in an IMS Connect client application to resolve duplicate Client IDs after a duplicate client ID error condition has been detected in an IMS Connect instance and a notification of that error has been returned to the client application. However, in environments such as a Sysplex Distributor environment , a client may not be connected to a same IMS Connect instance for successive interactions. Therefore, the duplicate Client IDs may not be resolved efficiently using the Cancel Timer function. On the other hand, a Cancel Client ID function is more efficient and reliable in resolving duplicate Client IDs as compared with the Cancel Timer function.
