Abstract

A method and system for integrating text chat sessions and call sessions in an Instant Messaging (IM) communication is disclosed. The method provides a single click ‘chat to call’ option in the IM communication. Upon selecting the single click ‘chat to call’ option, a message with multiple response options is sent to recipients. Based on selection of a response option by the recipients, an action is performed. The action may include, but is not limited to, initiating the call session, declining to initiate the call session, delaying the initiation of the call session for a predefined time, and initiating a text chat session.

The method provides a single click 'chat to call' option in the IM communication. Upon selecting the single click 'chat to call' option, a message with multiple response options is sent to recipients. Based on selection of a response option by the recipients, an action is performed. The action may include, but is not limited to, initiating the call session, declining to initiate the call session, delaying the initiation of the call session for a predefined time, and initiating a text chat session.

Consider a scenario in which a caller wants to initiate a call session with a recipient. In case the caller selects the single click 'chat to call' option in the IM communication, a message is automatically sent to the recipient. The message may be sent as an IM message or a text message. The message may be customized by the caller. The message may include multiple response options from which the recipient may select a response option. The multiple response options may include, but are not limited to, initiating a call session between the caller and the recipient, declining to initiate the call session, delaying initiation of the call session for a predefined time, and initiating a text chat session. Upon receiving the message, the recipient may select a response option. Based on the selection of the response option by the recipient, an action is performed.
