Social networks facilitate a user to interact with other users using various applications. For example, a first user may interact with a second user using various applications such as emails, instant messengers, websites, calendars, forums, blogs, and company specific applications and databases. Such interactions are typically stored in different locations based on an application that was utilized for interaction.

As the information about interactions is stored in different locations, it is difficult for the user to fetch information about a certain topic of interest. Further, the user may not remember the application that was utilized for interaction. Also, certain applications do not have provisions for saving the interactions between users. As a result, a considerable amount of time is required for fetching the information and in some cases; the information may be lost forever.

Disclosed is a method and system for increasing social network effectiveness by recording social interactions of a user in the social network and allowing the social interactions to be searched throughout the social network.

A "note taker" is provided that is configured to monitor and record interaction of the user on the various applications in the social network in the form of notes. For example, the note taker may record information such as type of interaction, kind of interaction, and duration of interaction of the user on a certain application in a note. The notes are then utilized to analyze how the social network of the user is growing as well as for retrieving information required by the user associated with a certain interaction.

In a scenario, the note taker records conversation of the user in all applications that has passed between the user and contacts of the user in the social network in a defined time frame. In the same manner, the note taker may record conversations that are limited to certain keywords. All such information that is recorded may be stored in the form of a report. Thereafter, the user is provided an option share the report containing the conversations within the social network of the user.
