Color Changing Hearing Aids

Idea: Chee Wah Leong, SG-Singapore

For BTE (Behind-The-Ear) and ITE (In-The-Ear) hearing aids different color parts are used to indicate the "Left" and the "Right" device. Normally, blue and red parts are applied as indicator clips on the battery door.

The novel idea is to use color changing plastic material designed to change color when the temperature changes. For example, the battery door is made of this novel color changing plastic material. When it is cold, i.e. not worn by the user, the battery door can be red or blue, indicating the "Left" and the "Right" hearing aid respectively. When the user wears it, the user's body temperature changes the color of the battery door to its intended or hot color. This can be skin color. In addition, it can also help the user to easily locate a misplaced hearing aid if its cold color is a bright and eye- catching color.
