Abstract

On the current web annotation products, the user annotations are stored on the server side which will lead to security and privacy problems. To comeover these drawbacks, our invention aims at developing a mechanism to store the user annotations of a webpage on the client side, provide a convenient and security way to share with other trusted people and combine diverse users' annotations on one webpage together. Therefore, we can avoid the third party to reveal our privacy content to other people, and also easy to share and combine our annotations with others.

Thirdly, if the third party goes out of business, all of our annotations will be lost. Based on these reasons, we came up with an idea to store the web annotations on the client sides.
