Method and System for Context -Based Automatic Photo Filtering

Disclosed is a method and system for automatic filtering of photos in a digital photo frame, a smart device or a web site based on context information. The method and system select the photos to be displayed from one or more collections of photos based on various context information. The context information may include, for example, physical location of the photo frame, a current date, birthdays of persons in the photos, objects in the photos and the like.

The method and system may utilize a computer program embedded in one or more of the digital photo frame and the smart device or on the web site. The method and system looks through the photos uploaded on one or more of the digital photo frame, the smart device or the web site to examine context associated with each photo.

The context may be, for example, appropriateness of the photos to be displayed at home as against a work place, objects included in the photos (e.g. holiday objects such as a Christmas tree, JackoLanterns, a snow man, an Easter egg, etc.), formality of the photos (e.g. detected by presence of persons wearing neck tie in the photos), and presence of family members, non-family members, children, etc. in the photos. Upon examining the contexts associated with each photo, a metadata is associated with each photo based on the context.

The method and system enable a user to add, delete or modify the metadata associated with the photos....
