Disclosed is a method and system for alerting a user about omission of email attachments.  In this method, email text is scanned to identify context relevant phrases indicating that the user intended to attach additional information to the email.  Thereafter, the user is alerted about omission of the attachment if the attachment is not included with the email.

Description

Disclosed is a method and system for alerting a user about omission of email attachments.  In this method, initially email text is scanned to identify context relevant phrases such as, "attachment", "see the enclosed file", "see this photo", or "review this file" indicating that the user intended to attach additional information to the email.  Thereafter, warnings or alerts are displayed to the user when the user attempts to send the email and email does not have any attachments.

The warning displayed may provide two options such as, "Attach a file" or "Send message" to the user.  If the user intended to attach a file to the email, the user may then select the option "Attach a file" shown in the warning.  In this case, the user is given an opportunity to select the appropriate file that needs to be attached to the email.  On the other hand, if the user did not intend to attach a file to the email, the user dismisses the warning by selecting "Send message," and the message is sent.
