A method and apparatus to locate a charger when a mobile device is out of battery

Most mobile devices operate by a rechargeable battery. While the rechargeable battery is convenient, the short battery life often limits its use as the device cannot be in use while the battery is recharging. In addition, when the battery for a mobile device needs to be charged, the user may not have a charger readily available and must locate one as quickly as possible, but may not know where to search.

The disclosed solution is a method by which users can locate any nearby chargers when their mobile device needs to be recharged. When a mobile device nears the end of its battery life, the mobile device broadcasts a message searching for nearby chargers. When a nearby charger receives the massage, it replies with a message advertising itself to the mobile device. Once the mobile device receives the response message from the nearby charger, the user proceeds to the nearby charger and charges the device. With this invention, the user knows exactly where to find a charger for their mobile device.

In a preferred embodiment, the process for locating a charging station for a mobile device follows:
1. The mobile device is running out of the battery life. For example, the remaining power of the battery is less than 10%.
