is indicated for the treatment and maintenance of patients with erosive oesophagitis and non-erosive gastro-oesophageal reflux disease.

Described hereinafter, is a crystalline form of DXL ammonium salt.

    Crystalline DXL ammonium salt can be characterized by data selected from: an X-ray powder diffraction pattern having peaks at 6.0, 16.6, 20.9, 23.2 and 23.5 ±
0.2degrees 2-Theta; an X-ray powder diffraction pattern substantially as depicted in figure 1; and combinations thereof.

    Crystalline DXL ammonium salt can be further characterized by additional X- ray powder diffraction peaks at 11.9, 13.9, 19.8 and 25.3± 0.2 degrees 2-Theta. X-ray powder diffraction:
