Disclosed is a method and system for providing preferred music content to a caller during a call waiting period. The caller may use a mobile device for initiating the call. The method involves identifying music content preferred by the caller from one or more sources. The one or more sources may be music preferences/playlists available in an online music account of the caller or on a mobile device of the caller. Based on the identification, the preferred music content is provided to the caller during the call waiting period.

In a scenario, the music preferences/playlists of the caller is retrieved from the online music account of the caller. The online music account of the caller may be provided by an online music service provider. The online music account of the caller may be identified based on a caller-ID of the caller. In addition, a summary of the music preferences/playlists including music genres may be retrieved from the online music service provider. Based on the music preferences/playlists retrieved from the online music account, the preferred music content may be retrieved. In an embodiment, the preferred music content is retrieved from the online music service provider and provided to the caller during the call waiting period.
