Method for live restoration of LPAR to WPAR

With the existing support of AIX® virtualization feature users can restore an LPAR image into a WPAR image. This facility is already exhibited through a version WPAR feature where users can restore different/older versions of the Operating System LPAR environment into a WPAR. At present this activity is performed by taking a mksysb image of an older O/S version LPAR and restoring it as a WPAR into a higher O/S version LPAR. However, the existing feature doesn't support the below facilities.

1) The live restoration of the LPAR environment into the WPAR by checkpointing the application in the LPAR and restarting them in the WPAR.
2) Live restoration of part of the LPAR environment or set of applications.

Currently there is no mechanism/solution to facilitate the above said problems.

Consider a scenario in which a customer wants to move from an LPAR environment to a WPAR, he will be facing major issues such as:
1) Application down time.
2) Moving only a particular identified set of applications from an LPAR to a WPAR environment.

The proposed method helps to restore the LPAR environment into the WPAR with less downtime by syncing the file systems and check-
