Disclosed is a method and system for validating one or more data fields corresponding to a meeting entry in a calendar at a time after creation of the meeting entry. The method and system involves providing an alert to a user for entering information corresponding to the meeting entry, in case a data field is found incorrect / incomplete based on the validation.

As shown in Fig. 1, the method involves performing validation of the data fields based on one or more rule templates. These rule templates are provided to a user, in response to creation of a new meeting entry for a meeting in a calendar application. The user may select a rule template, in case the user wishes to enter required information corresponding to the meeting at a later point of time in the meeting entry. The rule templates include rules about data fields which are to be entered by the user for

providing the required information about the meeting. Further, the rule templates include information about a validating time when validation of the data fields is performed.
