Disclosed is a method and system for transforming a Test Case to a Test Script using automated GUI objects identification. Initially, test case data is written into a dynamic form based application. The test case data is stored in a structured format. Each and every step of a test case is entered by a user by adding GUI objects. The GUI objects may include, data input fields, check boxes, radio buttons, regulate buttons, etc. The user adds these GUI objects and then enters the data in these objects as required. The user also identifies the GUI objects as per the labels used in the actual application. Thus, the test case is in a format that is machine processable and the semantics of the test case data is also retained.

Thereafter, a test script is automatically generated using the test case data stored in the dynamic form based application. The test script may be generated by a test script generation tool such as, Rational* Functional Tester (RFT). The tool initially collects the test case data, more particularly labels of each of the GUI objects. The tool is capable of identifying the GUI objects based on their properties such as, the labels. To identify the GUI objects, the labels present in a real GUI are mapped with the labels stored in the test case.
