Disclosed is a method and system for creating a map like interface to discover contents in large repositories and present these contents.

In order to create the map like interface, the contents of the large repositories are represented as various elements of the map, such as, a district, an area, and a street etc. A user may create templates for the map in a particular style. In case of a software application, various components of the software application may define a basic layout
i.e., a component layout in the map. The component layout is used as a map template. An area of each component may be defined by the number of items belonging to the component. A name of a component represents a name of a corresponding area. For example, a component area may be similar to a district in a normal map. However, the user can modify the styling of the map like interface based on their requirements. In this manner, the whole map is created based on the contents related to the components of the software application.

Additionally, some information corresponding to each component may be clustered according to a type or artifacts of the component. For example, all clustered requirements for a particular component may be displayed with flags or color-coding.
