Disclosed is a method and system for defining relationships between Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) attributes in a LDAP directory server.

The relationship between the LDAP attributes helps in managing LDAP attribute values when an LDAP attribute value depends on existence values of other LDAP attributes. In other words, the value of an LDAP attribute is MUST only if a value exists for the defined parent LDAP attribute. This relationship is defined using the following script:
