Disclosed is a method and system for displaying callee information in a mobile bill. Fig. 1 illustrates a phonebook gateway incorporated into an existing enterprise system. An input for the phonebook gateway is a single or a batch of invoice objects generated by a billing system. The format associated with the input is XML. XML files are processed by replacing text available at a phonebook gateway. The parsing of phonebook entries is set at a speed of an existing Electronic Bill Presentment and Payment (EBPP) system. For each called number entry made in the billing system, the phonebook is looked to determine a match. If there is no match, the same called number is send to an output XML. The EBPP system uses the XML batch to generate the bills to be dispatched to the subscriber.

Additionally, the phonebook gateway maintains the subscriber phonebook entries and synchronizes and updates latest changes of the subscriber's phonebook. This is done by three different ways illustrated in Fig. 2. Firstly, a proprietary OTA application that is resident on a mobile can synchronize the changes in the phonebook at a specific time or when an update in the phonebook occurs.
