Abstract

Instant Messaging is a mechanism for direct, informal and unstructured communication between two or more parties. Chat transcripts are available to show a recording of the conversation which has taken place. Further processing of the outcome of a chat requires parsing/reading of what has being said, and typically needs to be summarized manually. This disclosure proposes to add a mechanism, which moves agreed decisions to a "Summary/Result" box, next to the chat. This can be done during the chat. The agreed decisions are collected in that Summary/Result box and can be used for further communication after the chat has been terminated. By pressing "agree"/"disagree" button the last line in the text will be moved to the summary box. The summary box will also show if individual participants of the chat have agreed/disagreed to this statement. At the end there is a report with the key agreements/disagreements. This becomes especially useful for long chats, which are continued over multiple days, e.g. when details of a contract are negotiated.

This disclosure can be implemented by a user interface which presents itself like depicted in the following two screenshots. The first image shows the first decision ("We will have 6 developers") which is agreed by all participants of the chat. The second decision ("We will need testers too") is added to the summary but lacks agreement of one participant:
