Abstract

In ear-hooks of BTE hearing aids dampers/filters are applied to provide acoustic resistance (BTE: Behind The Ear). These dampers/filters can be placed at an end or at the middle of the ear-hook sound channel (see Figure 1). These two solutions cause crucial problems. Damper/Filter at the end of a sound channel can detach easily during usage. Additional, ear-wax or other impurities cause degradation of the acoustic performance, so it has to be cleaned periodical. The assembling of damper/filter in the middle of a sound channel during production is difficult. Replacing is almost not possible.

In ear-hooks of BTE hearing aids dampers/filters are applied to provide acoustic resistance (BTE: Behind The Ear). These dampers/filters can be placed at an end or at the middle of the ear-hook sound channel (see Figure 1).

These two solutions cause crucial problems. Damper/Filter at the end of a sound channel can detach easily during usage. Additional, ear-wax or other impurities cause degradation of the acoustic performance, so it has to be cleaned periodical. The assembling of damper/filter in the middle of a sound channel during production is difficult. Replacing is almost not possible.

In the following, an integrated and replaceable damper/filter solution is proposed (see Figure 2). Such damper/filter has a holder with an internal/external screw thread. When ear-wax or other impurities deposit on damper/filter, the damper/filter can be replaced and assembled easily. The screw thread prevents the integrated damper/filter from detaching.

The main advantages of the proposed integrated damper/filter solution are that the simple attachment for damper/filter allows an easy replacement of damper/filter and prevent detaching.
