Disclosed is a method and system for running an operating system (OS) associated with a mobile device on a cloud server to increase the computation resources available to the mobile device.

In order to run the OS associated with the mobile device on the cloud server, a log-in screen on the mobile device prompts the user to log onto the OS associated with the mobile device running on the cloud server. Here, the mobile device acts as a terminal to connect to the cloud server where the device's OS is actually running on. A user may use any mobile device to connect to the OS running on the cloud server. Further, the mobile device may connect to the cloud server using an internet connection such as Wi-Fi* or 3G.

In case a user's mobile device is lost, the user may buy a new mobile device to act as a terminal and reconnect to the OS running on the cloud server. In this case, the user may block all access to the OS running on the cloud server until a new mobile device is bought.

After establishing connection between the cloud server and the mobile device, one or more tasks may be sent to the cloud server for processing. In an embodiment, the mobile device may be send data captured from a camera, a Bluetooth** module and other devices to the cloud server for processing. Based on the complexity of the processing, the cloud server dynamically allocates resources to the mobile device as and when required.
