Method and System for Alerting User to be Attentive in a Meeting

Occasionally people fall asleep in meetings, conferences and classrooms. This could lead to embarrassment and loss of business in some cases.

A method and system is disclosed for privately alerting a user to be attentive in such meetings.

The system includes a monitoring software component. In an exemplary implementation, the software component is installed on a portable computing device and mobile device of a user. The software components installed on the portable computing device and the mobile device communicates with each other using existing wireless communication protocols. For example, the software components may interact with each other using Bluetooth* technology.

The software component installed on the portable computing device monitors the user's behavior through a built-in camera of the portable computing device. This software component uses pattern recognition technique to recognize whether the user is falling asleep based on the video available from the built-in camera. Once it detects a sleeping pattern it alerts the software component installed on the mobile device.

In response to getting the alert from the software component installed on the portable computing device, the software component installed on the mobile device turns the mobile device into silent vibrate mode and alerts the user with mobile device vibrations.
