Method and System for Restoring an Operating System (OS) Through Remote Access

Disclosed is a method and system for restoring an Operating System (OS) on a server through
a remote access interface. According to the method and system, an internal non-volatile memory is provided in the server to locally store files such as, but not limited to, one or more OS images. The internal non-volatile memory may in an embodiment be a removable storage media of generic size such as one or more of 8 GB, 16 GB and 32 GB. In an embodiment, the internal non-volatile memory may be accessible to the server to perform storage operations such as, but not limited to, reading, writing, updating and deleting. In another embodiment, the internal non-volatile memory may be accessible to the remote access interface. For instance, the internal non-volatile memory may be accessed by the remote access interface by mounting a virtual drive. Subsequent to mounting the virtual drive, one or more storage operations such as, but not limited to, reading, writing, updating and deleting may be performed. For example, OS images may be uploaded to the internal non-volatile memory from a remote location. Moreover, one or more OS images stored in the internal non-volatile memory may be directly copied to a hard-disk of the server in order to restore the OS.
