Method and System for Facilitating Searching of Cloud Services

Disclosed is a method and system for facilitating searching of one or more cloud services in the cloud computing environment.

In accordance with the method disclosed herein, one or more mnemonics are embedded in a Universal Resource Locator (URL) address of a cloud service.

The method teaches creation of a set of URL mnemonics that describe cloud computing environments as well as services that are offered by one or more clouds.

In an exemplary implementation of the method following rules are proposed for the creation of the set of URL mnemonics.

First 2 characters after the last forward slash "/" are required to be CL to indicate a cloud. Alternatively, CURL could be used to denote a cloud URL. Further, CURL could be shortened to CU
Next 2 characters following {CL, CURL, CU} are required to be one of a PR (Private), PU (Public Cloud) and RO (Read only)

Subsequent 2 characters provide a high level description of a cloud such as ST for storage cloud, SR for services cloud and AP for applications
The Next character is a delimiter, such as an underscore "

_"

The delimiter is followed by few low-level characters; these low -level characters are dependent upon the high level cloud service being offered.

Once these mnemonics become known in the art and supported by all devices that support the internet protocol, clouds using these URL mnemonics can then be discovered using Internet search engines.
