A method and system for preservation of intended method output through testing framework’s association is disclosed. The association between methods and test cases are such that new code changes to the method are not allowed to be delivered to a code repository until all associated sets of test cases are successfully tested.

Method and System for Preservation of Intended Method Output through Testing Framework Association

Disclosed is a method and system to associate a method and a plurality of test cases such that new code changes to the method are not allowed to be delivered to a code repository without the corresponding set of test cases are completed successfully. The association of the method and the test cases may be determined by a tester or a developer while writing the test case. The method further provides an option to the tester and/or the developer to set a link association between the method and the test cases to ensure that a new code change will not violate the test case's successful completion.

The method and the system of associating method and test cases can be implemented by a developer or a tester. For example, a first developer writes a new method X. The method is optionally associated with one or more test cases. The association can be done by selecting a method's name with a pointing device in an Integrated Development Environment (IDE). Then test cases are selected from a list of test cases that are to be associated with the method. Alternatively, the test cases can also be associated with a method by selecting a test case and choosing methods from a list of methods to be associated with the test case. The IDE may also provide a provision to a user to select association preferences or types. An association preference indicates the type of association between...
