Abstract

Big companies have more and more data to be protected, usually, one data client only connects to one storage application server. If many clients connect to one server, this server workload will be heavy. The invention of Distributed Storage Application Server is to build up storage application servers to a distributed server system, then workload can be balanced among several servers. If one server workload is too heavy, this server can offload its work to other server. In this way, workload is balanced.

Distributed Storage Application Server

Big companies have more and more information to protect, data retention and protection are continuing to increase in importance for all data centers. Usually, One data client only connects to one storage application server. If many clients connect to one server, this server workload will be heavy, and performance will be bad. So traditional storage application server can not adapt to current complicated network architecture.

The invention of Distributed Storage Application Server is to build up storage application servers to a distributed server system, that is to say workload can be balanced among several servers.

If one server workload is too heavy, this server can offload its work to other server. In this way, workload is balanced.

Application storage server communication module has been implemented in current server products, like one server can export data to other server. So in this invention, just one module is added in server product. This module is named as "Workload Balance Module"(WBM).

Nothingelse needs to be changed in client side.
