Mobile device manufacturers currently alert users when the battery needs to be recharged solely based on the amount of battery power. The notification is sent when the battery reaches a certain level, and does not take into account the schedule or daily routines of the user. The problem with this approach is it often leads to battery recharge notifications at inopportune times or insufficient battery power during critical times of usage.

By monitoring the battery usage rate in conjunction with times the device is likely to be in use, a battery recharging routine can suggest optimal times to recharge the battery.

The disclosed solution for battery recharging scheduling notifications for mobile devices offers the following capabilities:


• Reading scheduling information


• Obtaining the current battery charge level


• Determining a rate of battery discharge


• Determining a rate of battery recharge


• Calculating a current battery life trajectory based on the current battery charge level and the rate of battery discharge


• Calculating a required battery life solution using the scheduling information, the battery life trajectory and the rate of battery recharge, and notifying the user of the optimal recharge window.
