A method and system for automatically replacing old data with new data in an enterprise environment is disclosed. The method includes mining a source document, identifying a change made to a field in the source document, validating the change by analyzing related fields and replacing old data with new data accordingly. Thereafter, a person affected by the change is notified of the data replacement.

Disclosed is a method and system for automatically replacing old data with new data in an enterprise environment. The method includes mining a source document and identifying a change made to a field in the source document. The source document includes contact names and identification details that are, usually, manually coded into the source document. Examples of such source documents may include, but are not limited to Bluepages, Intranet pages, and webpages associated with an enterprise.

Initially, a snapshot of the information present in the source document is taken, wherein the information corresponds to data related to an employee or a user of an enterprise. Thereafter, a script is invoked that is coded to look at a set number of variables in the source document rather than at the employees name as the contact name is filled in the fields. The variables include, but are not limited to, serial number, department, division,

          ob role, employee name etc. The script will run automatically to look for 3 out of 4 matches to retain the employee as the contact. The tool may also analyze related fields such as department, division,

In an embodiment, other databases of the enterprise may also be scanned to find the related fields.

As a result of the analysis, an employee name associated with maximum number of fields is determined. If the determined name corresponds to the current employee, the name of old employee is replaced by current employee and the current employee is notified of the update. In an alternate scenario, when the determined name corresponds to the old employee, a person-in-charge is instructed to take corrective actions.
