Abstract

XRD spectra of N-[(2-hydroxyphenyl)methyleneamino]-2-(4-methylmorpholin-4-ium-4-yl)acetamide chloride (2) are reported which provide evidence of the different crystal morphologies obtained so far.

N-[(2-hydroxyphenyl)methyleneamino]-2-(4-methylmorpholin-4-ium-4-yl) acet- amide chloride (2) was prepared from 2-(4-methylmorpholin-4-ium-4- yl)acetohydrazide chloride (1)1 and salicylaldehyde by analogy to a method published by V. Leovac et al., Struct. Chem. 2007, 18, 113-119 (Scheme 1).

The reaction was carried out using the solvents shown in Table 1, entry 1 - 4. Products were isolated by filtration, dried and the structure of 2 confirmed by

1H NMR and elemental analysis. XRD spectra2 of 2 are shown in Figures 1 -
4.
