Abstract

To make an effect solution and deployment, this disclosure proposed a new method and system of sensor deployment which meets solution/application requirements with base sensors for lower deployment cost and reducing maintenance cost. It captures sensors' capacity and task for generating sensor resource inventory. And maintains a mapping list for every capacity resource to the physical sensor instance(s). Based on these information, it generate work schedule for the sensors that indicates capacity slot assignment for each sensor based on application requirements.

One of the big challenges of the IoT solution is its sensors deployment. The main obstacle for adopting complex applications is the limited resources that sensor nodes have. Although their limited size makes them attractable for use in a number of situations, at the same time their size affects resources such as the energy, computational power, and storage available.

To make an effect solution and deployment, designer is always in a dilemma on cost and capacity (power, computation, communication and storage). More power sensor has, more cost it is. Thus, sensors deployment and maintenance even the whole lifecycle needed to be considered.

At the same time, IoT solution is an integration system, it leverages huge various sensors for data capture. there are multiple sensors are designed with various functions. Even if sensors are with similar functions, their capacities (power, computation, communication and storage) are different.

So a new method is required to deploy the sensor network effective and also it will not generate a high cost for maintenance, such as sensors replacement for power outage, capability upgrade, etc.

We propose a new method and system of sensor deployment which meets solution/application requirements with base sensors for lower deployment cost and reducing maintenance cost.
