Abstract

The present invention relates to a connector assembly for electrical connectors with terminals securely retained in a connector body (fixture). The fixture is designed so that it secures each wire directly against its connector socket. Each wire is pulled through a rubber sleeve in the fixture and secured, pinched, via a locking device to be secured to an electrical contact. The locking device for the wire can be made so that the rubber sleeves are deformed (compressed) when a movable part with wedged "heels" are pushed into the fixture.

The present invention relates to a connector assembly for electrical connectors with terminals securely retained in a connector body, for instance for use in a vehicle.

Electrical problems caused by failing contacts are usually caused by vibrations and temperature variations. Vibrations are often transferred to the contact through the wiring.  Today the cabling is usually secured with cable ties and the quality depends on both the assembler and the cable tie. In addition, the cable tie is not adapted to the high temperatures that prevail at certain points in vehicles. These problems  can increase further during repairs, as the repair can be performed by people who are not informed about how the wires should be connected.

The problems mentioned above can be reduced by securing the wires through a fixture (Fig. 1) in a connector body. The fixture is designed so that it secures each wire directly against its connector socket.  Each wire is pulled through a rubber sleeve (Fig. 2) in the fixture and secured, pinched, via a locking device to be secured to an electrical contact as shown in the drawings.

Fig. 2 is a top view of the fixture. Each hole where a wire is pulled though contains a rubber sleeve.
