Abstract

A method, apparatus, and computer implemented instructions for automating repetitive process of setting up complex software systems in various environments during software development life cycle by selecting source and destination systems; data sources; configuration subset; data; rules of configuration transformation and executing information extraction / loading. Querying the source and destination systems for available data sources and rules of transformation allowing creating or self-contained system that could be migrated via multiple environments with minimum effort.

A method, apparatus, and computer implemented instructions for automatic migration of setups, configuration and data between multiple computing environments

Repetitive process of setting up customers in development, integration, QA, customer test, production, etc. environments is error prone and time consuming. In case of troubleshooting production issue, recreating configurations and message flows in development environment is subject of the same constrains in addition to privacy concerns regarding Sensitive Personal Information (SPI).

There are some existing tools that performed similar actions, such as ETL (Extract / Transform / Load) systems and systems described below.

For example, automated application migration system (US 7028079 B2 "Method and apparatus for the automatic migration of applications and their associated data and configuration files") allows to move source configuration files to destination based on metadata, but it doesn't deal with customer configuration and data stored in persistent storage (database, file system, etc). There is no data transformation during the move including SPI scrubbing.

Another solution, management of hosted applications solution (US 7840673 B1 "Method and apparatus for management of hosted applications") supports administrative data transfer between multiple servers, but it doesn't have a provision to query a systems about data sources available for moving and transforming.

Proposed solution for automatic setups, co...
