Disclosed is a method and system for reducing email storage requirements by managing redundancies in email threads. The method and system allows a user to identify email contents which are redundant, unnecessary or consuming extra space
and removing such email contents. The email content that the user might want to remove might include repeating subjects, footers, animated footers, declined invitations, delegated invitations, accepted invitations after the event has occurred, delivery failure notices, and user customized options such as sender, subject, date/time, etc. After the

user identifies the email content to remove, the user selects an option to indicate removal of some information from an email thread . The user can then indicate types of information to consolidate in the email thread . The email thread is then consolidated based on preferences selected by the user. A master image of the consolidated email thread can be collected and then the user can merge or remove email content .

Thus, through the use of the disclosed method and system , a user can manage email storage requirements and relevance of email content by setting up personal preferences. The disclosed method removes visual noise to reduce email storage requirements, and to improve retrieval of email content and readability for the user .
