Disclosed is a method and system for disabling one or more smartphone functions in a vehicle. The disclosed method and system disables one or more of, but not limited to, a calling function and a texting function in a smartphone. In a scenario, the method disables the one or more smartphone functions when the vehicle is in motion. Further, the one or more smartphone functions are only disabled in the smartphone of a driver of the vehicle. In accordance with the scenario, the method disables the one or more smartphone functions in the smartphone of the driver and not in the smartphones of the passengers in the vehicle.

In a scenario, the method for disabling the one or more smartphone functions includes receiving one or more signals from one or more components in the vehicle. In accordance with the scenario, the one or more signals are received at the smartphone. The one or more signals are generated by one or more components such as, but not limited to, a seat-belt sensor and a Global Positioning System (GPS) device of the vehicle. In a scenario, at least one of the seat-belt sensor and the GPS device transmits a signal to a frequency pulse generator of the vehicle. Further, at least one of the seat-belt sensor and the GPS device transmits the signal to the frequency pulse generator when the vehicle is either on standby or is in motion.
