The prohibited duplicated object detection program for iASP HA system on IBM i

On IBM i systems, an switchable independent ASP (iASP) is used as an high available (HA) solution.

Some items like an spool file and an library (a schema) cannot be duplicated between the System ASP (SYSBAS) and an iASP if an ID and or a name or is same.

If there is a duplication, a vary-on operation of an iASP will fail.

Duplication detection is done at later part of a vary-on operation.

So a duplication make big time-loss.

With this invention, a duplication can be detected before a vary-on operation of an iASP. Users can remove a duplication before a vary-on operation of an iASP and an iASP switching must be done successfully.

An iASP for HA is attached one system in a HA cluster.

Before switching a iASP to another system and varying-on it, object IDs (or names) in the iASP can be listed on a currently attached system..

Object IDs in the SYSBAS of a switching target system also can be listed in the iASP.

So before switching , we can detect an duplication and deal with it by taking lists on both systems and comparing them by this invention.

- List IDs (or names) of objects which cannot be duplicated between an SYSBAS and an iASP before take-over switching.

Listing for an SYSBAS is done on a switching target system.

Listing for an iASP is done on on a currently attached system.

The QUSLSPL API can be used to list spool files. The Auxiliary storage pool (ASP) parameter of Optional Para...
