Method and System for Enabling Sharing of Type - Addresses among Users

Disclosed is a method and system for providing type-ahead suggestions to a user for selecting a recipient for an email message. Further, the system also shares type-ahead suggestions from relevant co-workers of the user.

Figure 1 illustrates an exemplary embodiment of the system disclosed herein .

As shown in the figure 1, when a user wish to compose an email to person named John Smith, the system provides type-ahead suggestions from an address book stored locally on the user's local computer as well from a global address book stored on an email server. Along with these suggestions, the system also shares type-ahead suggestions from relevant co-workers of the user such as Paul and Robert. The co-workers are selected based on their relevance to the email message . Once the co-workers are selected, type-ahead suggestions are retrieved from the co-workers who

have enabled sharing are shared with the user. A user may select which email

addresses can be shared with all, group or individuals.

In an exemplary implementation, the user is required to enable retrieving of the type-ahead suggestions from the co-workers. For example, a user may user a special trigger to initiate look-up of the type-ahead suggestions from the co-workers. In another implementation, the system may enable the sharing feature by default .
